Bernie founded McGinn Penninger Investment Management, Inc. in 1991. He has been in the investment management business since 1982, first with Merrill Lynch and later Kidder Peabody.
Bernie has served on the adjunct faculty at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University where he taught graduate level courses on financial theory and applied portfolio management. In addition to Georgetown, Bernie served as a visiting Professor of Finance at the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland where he taught graduate level portfolio construction theory. He is also a member of the CFA Society of Washington DC.
At the suggestion of the former Governor of Virginia and current U.S. Senator, Mark Warner, Bernie served as a board member for the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education. The board recruited Mr. McGinn for his skills and expertise in portfolio management with foundations and charitable organizations. He also served on the finance committee for the National American Diabetes Association and locally on the board of The Campagna Center and The Running Brook Fund in Alexandria.
Bernie has also been a contributor to CNBC, Fox Business News, Barron’s and The Wall Street Journal.
